They have already replaced Max Wolff with a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! chief designer.
Wolff, a highly regarded designer originally from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , may have encountered resistance to his efforts to further differentiate Lincoln cars from the Ford models upon which they are based
That doesn't sound good.

design ugly cars, get fired. Maybe the next designer will fix these disasters

I'm pretty sure he was only responsible for the MKZ and MKC IIRC. I know looks are suggestive, but the MKZ isn't ugly at all. He is now the head of exterior design, so I don't think ugly was the problem....

I would say that Lincoln is a decade behind Cadillac. If they want to catch up and be competitive, Ford must dump mammoth amounts of money into R&D AND change to a driver-oriented RWD platform.
Otherwise, Lincoln is competing with Buick.

Damn, that was fast …. also I saw him a few weeks ago. Getting tacos.

Hopefully his successor will design some proper luxury cars...

I like the older MKZ, but not the newer ones. The MKC is 90% but the 10% (front end) brings it all down. Keep the grille simple - swooping it up at an angle like they do is it's Achilles heel, I think.

Lincoln stated about 5 years ago that their main competition is Buick and Acura. They stopped competing with Cadillac a while ago.
They're dumping $1billion into their turn-around currently. It looks like that rwd thinking is what made Ford replace Wolff. Platform sharing is what saved Ford, so I can't blame them.

Wolff is now head of exterior design so nothing is going to change there.

The new MKZ is a lot different in person, in a good way. I don't like the MKC at all, I really liked the concept but the production version is too dulled down. The MKS and MKT look like absolute garbage.

I love Lincoln but the whole purpose of the company now is to shin up Fords and then sell them. Frankly I think it works for now. One day however Ford will be in a tough spot and if there isn't something to make Lincoln distinctively it's own I'm worried they might get axed.
